What the Scriptures says about Shabbat

1) Thus the heavens and the earth were complete, and all their array. And in the seventh day Elohim completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And Elohim blessed the seventh day and set it apart, because on it He rested from all His work which Elohim in creating had made.

Genesis 2:1-3

2) “Remember the sabbath day, to set it apart. “Six days you labour, and shall do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of Yahovah your Elohim. You do not do any work — you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. “For in six days Yahovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore Yahovah blessed the sabbath day and set it apart.

Exodus 20:8-11

3) “If you do turn back your foot from the sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My set-apart day, and shall call the sabbath ‘a delight,’ the set apart day of Yahovah ‘esteemed,’ and shall esteem it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in Yahovah. And I shall cause you to ride on the heights of the earth, and feed you with the inheritance of Jacob your father. For the mouth of Yahovah has spoken!”

Isaiah 58:13-14

4) “Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who becomes strong in it, guarding the Sabbath lest he profane it, and guarding his hand from doing any evil.

Isaiah 56:2

5) For thus said Yahovah, “To the eunchs who guard My sabbaths, and have chosen what pleases Me, and are holding onto My covenant: to them I shall give in My house and within My walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters — I give them an everlasting name that is not cut off. “Also the sons of the foreigner who join themselves to Yahovah, to serve Him servants, all who guard the Sabbath, and not profane it, and are holding onto My covenant — then I shall bring to My set-apart mountain, and let them rejoice in My house of prayer. Their ascending offerings and their slaughterings are accepted on My slaughter-place, for My house is called a house of prayer for all the peoples.” The Master Yahovah, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, “I gather still others to him besides those who are gathered to him.”

Isaiah 56:4-8

6) And according to his practice, Sha’ul went in unto them, and for three Sabbaths was reasoning with them from the Scriptures, explaining and pointing out that the Messiah had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This is the Messiah, Yeshua, whom I proclaim to you.”

And see, there was a man having a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, “Is it right to heal on the Sabbath?” — so as to accuse Him. And He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, shall not take hold of it and lift it out?” How much more worth is a man than a sheep! So it is right to do good on the Sabbath.”

Hebrews 4:1

13) For we who have believed do enter into that rest, as He has said, “As I swore in My wrath, if they shall enter into My rest…” And yet His works have come into being from the foundation of the world. For somewhere He has said thus about the seventh day, “And Elohim rested on the seventh day from all His works,” and in this again, “If they shall enter into My rest…” Since then it remains for some to enter into it, and those who formerly received the Good News did not enter in because of disobedience,

Hebrews 4:3-6

14) He again defines a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so much later, as it has been said, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” For if Yeshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. So there remains a Sabbath-keeping for the people of Elohim. For the one, having also rested from his works, as himself also rested from His own. Let us therefore do our utmost to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, “What evil matter is this that you are doing, profaning the Sabbath day? “Did not your fathers do the same so that our Elohim brought all this evil on us and on this city? Yet you bring added wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.” And it came to be, when the gates of Yerushalayim were shaded before the Sabbath, that I commanded the doors to be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath. 89) “If you do turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My set-apart day, and shall call the Sabbath ‘a delight,’ the set-apart day of Yehovah ‘esteemed,’ and shall esteem it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in Yehovah. And I shall cause you to ride on the heights of the earth, and feed you with the inheritance of Jacob your father. For the mouth of Yehovah has spoken!”

Isaiah 58:13-14

90) And when the jews went out of the congregation, the nations begged to have these words spoken to them the next Sabbath. And when the meeting of the congregation had broken up, many of the jews and of the worshipping converts followed Sha’ul and Barnaba, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the favor of Elohim. And on the next Sabbath almost all the city came together to hear the Word of Elohim.
